Rules and Regulations for Plumbing Division Permit Approval

All permits must be accompanied by an isometric drawing.  After approval, the plumbing permit can be issued and the work may start.
Homeowner permits must be for their primary residence only.  The permit holder must do the work.  If the homeowner is going to have a contractor do the work, then the contractor must purchase the permit.

The permit holder is the only person who can call in for the inspection date/ time.

All commercial and industrial permits must be purchased by the plumbing contractor and must be accompanied by a blueprint and an isometric drawing.  The plumbing contractor must also be registered with the Ohio Department of Health.

Permits can be paid for at the time of application but will not be issued until approved.

Water heaters and water softeners for replacement do not need prior approval for a permit to be issued.

Permit will be approved when the Certified Plumbing Inspector approves the isometric drawing, signs his name, and dates the plumbing permit.  No work can be started until this is done.

If any work is started before the permit is issued then a 25% of total penalty fee will be charged before the permit is issued.

All commercial and industrial permits will have a plan review fee.  The fee is 30% of permit fee with a minimum fee of $45.00.

In order for a plumbing contractor to do work in the Darke County General Health District, he/she must be registered and have at the minimum a $20,000 bond.
