Terrence L. Holman DVM, RS, graduated from the Ohio State University
with degrees in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. He has been employed
by the Darke County Board of Health as Health Commissioner since 1985.
As Health Commissioner, he serves the Board as the secretary and Chief
Executive Officer charged with enforcing all the health rules and regulations
of the Board and the State of Ohio. Dr Holman manages the day-to-day operations
of the Health Department.
Welcome to the Darke County Health Department’s Web Page. As you
visit our site, I hope you will check out the history section, which gives
highlights of the history of public health in Darke County. We feel
that by looking at our history you can see where we have been and how we
have gotten to where we are today.
On the front page you will notice a link to each of our divisions and departments within the health department. We provide environmental services, nursing services, and vital statistics services. Please take the time to learn about our staff by clicking on the staff link at the bottom of each division page. We feel that the staff is an important part of our organization and well qualified to provide premium public health services to the residents of Darke County.
We have also included a section on our Board of Health so you can learn about the members, how they are appointed, and their responsibilities.
Recently the Darke County Health Department was part of a Community Health Assessment in which a steering committee created an on going plan to address the health needs and promote wellness for the citizens of Darke County. We have included some information regarding this; however, a complete copy can be viewed at the Health Department.
We have also included a section on frequently asked questions that we receive at the health department. We hope this section will be useful. Links to other organizations are included for your assistance.
