HELP ME SLEEP
The Darke County Health Department has created a new program called "Help Me Sleep" that will be administered by the Help Me Grow program.
The mission of the program is to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and numerous other ways that children can become seriously injured or even die from unsafe sleep environments. It is estimated that nearly 60% of low income Darke County families do not have a safe bed for their infant to sleep in. To answer the great demand for safe beds, "Help Me Sleep" was developed.
Families who are at 185% poverty level (qualifying for WIC, Metropolitan Housing, Medicaid, SSI or Public Assistance) and active with the Help Me Grow program, will be screened for their need of a crib. Then, they must agree to a one-hour class about safe sleep habits before receiving a free, safety approved crib. All cribs distributed will be purchased strictly from donations.
