Its all about recycling!

	In July 2010, the Darke County Health Department received $15,000 in grant money from ODNR - Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention to recycle approximately 12,000 tires.

	The tires, located in Wayne Township, Darke County, accumulated over many years and were creating a public health nuisance. They have been removed and put to beneficial use.

The Tire Amnesty Grant program is sponsored & paid for by the:

Ohio Department of Natural Resources

Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention

The Grant provides financial assistance to Ohio’s governments, businesses, schools, universities, health districts, soil & water conservation districts & non-profit organizations for the following purposes:

to design a program to promote sustainable scrap tire collection drives
to sponsor a drop off effort during a specified period of time
to engage in targeted clean up events

Please recycle your old tires! They can be used for a variety of products:

Paving material for roads	Playground surfaces	Swings & playground equipment
Athletic field turf	Running tracks	Interlocking patio bricks
Roofing shingles	Parking curbs	Speed bumps
Wheel chocks	Soaker hoses	Livestock feeders
Planters	Landscape mulch	Anti-slip mats
